Why the “₹149/mo” plan actually costs ₹449/mo at renewal
This is the most expensive sentence in Indian web hosting: “renews at ₹449/mo” — printed in small text under a giant “₹149/mo” headline. You paid ₹7,152 for four years of Hostinger Premium and did everything right. Then the renewal email arrives, and the next four years cost ₹21,552 before GST. That jump is not a surprise price hike. It was on the page the whole time, in the one line nobody reads.
This article exists so you read it. We verified Hostinger’s renewal figures verbatim from hostinger.com/in plan cards, re-checked every alternative’s official page on 20 October 2026, and wrote down exactly where the numbers came from — and where they could not be confirmed. Nothing here is a “I personally tested it” story: this is official pricing pages, screenshots and public data, analysed honestly. Where sources conflicted, we say so out loud.
Update vs the Hindi version: if you read the Hinglish original (published 17 October), two things have moved since: Hostinger’s homepage now leads with a live Black Friday banner, and MilesWeb’s plan lineup and renewal claims have changed again. Those deltas are covered below, and lastVerified is today’s date.
Hostinger renewal prices in India (2026): what the official page says
On 17 October 2026 we opened hostinger.com/in and read every plan card top to bottom. The intro prices apply to the 48-month term; the renewal figure is printed under each card as “Renews at ₹X/mo”, verbatim:
| Plan | Intro price/mo | Renews at/mo | Jump | Current 48-mo deal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single | ₹69 | ₹289 | 4.2x | ₹3,312 (regular ₹19,152) |
| Premium | ₹149 → ₹139 (Black Friday) | ₹449 | 3.2x | ₹6,672 (regular ₹32,592) |
| Business | ₹249 → intro via 75% off special | ₹649 | 2.6x | ₹9,552 (regular ₹38,352) |
| Cloud Startup | ₹599 | ₹1,599 | 2.7x | ₹28,752 (regular ₹81,552) |
Two things the page states plainly, and buyers usually miss:
- GST is excluded. The footer says “Prices are listed without GST” — so 18% GST is added at checkout on every figure in this table. Premium’s ₹449/mo renewal is really ₹530/mo.
- Plan names moved again. The “Unlimited” name seen on 17 October now reads Business again (“Special offer • 75% off”). Ignore the label churn; the renewal rows are what matter.
Verified live on 20 October: a browser view of the plan cards today reads verbatim — Single “Get 48 months for ₹3,312 (regular price ₹19,152). Renews at ₹289/mo.”, Premium “Get 48 months for ₹6,672 (regular price ₹32,592). Renews at ₹449/mo.”, Business “Get 48 months for ₹9,552 (regular price ₹38,352). Renews at ₹649/mo.”, Cloud Startup “Renews at ₹1,599/mo.” The homepage hero leads with “Black Friday — UP TO 83% OFF — Get your idea online today from ₹139/mo.” — that ₹139 is the Premium plan’s Black Friday intro rate (₹6,672 ÷ 48), down from ₹149 a few days ago. The “Renews at” rows did not move. That is the whole story of this article in one screenshot: intro prices dance with the sale calendar; renewal prices do not.
hostinger.com/in, 17 October 2026 — Single “Renews at ₹289/mo”, Premium “Renews at ₹449/mo”, Unlimited “Renews at ₹649/mo”, Cloud Startup “Renews at ₹1,599/mo”; all intro prices on the 48-month term
Do the four-year maths once and the headline prices lose their power. Hostinger Premium at today’s Black Friday rate costs ₹6,672 (+₹1,201 GST = ₹7,873) for the first 48 months — an effective ₹164/mo. The next 48 months are ₹449 × 48 = ₹21,552 + GST. The second cycle costs nearly three times the first. Never choose a plan on the intro price alone; choose on the renewal price, because that is where you spend most of your money.

Three practical ways to dodge the renewal shock
1. Lock the longest term on day one. The intro rate applies to the entire term. A 48-month term gets you ₹149/mo for four full years; a 12-month term means a higher per-month rate and an early renewal. With a 30-day money-back guarantee, buying a short term “to test first” is weak logic.
2. Migrate 30–45 days before renewal. Free migration is commonly offered (MilesWeb does it). Mark the renewal date in your calendar the day you purchase — leaving auto-renewal on and forgetting about it is the single most expensive option.
3. Pick a host with a predictable renewal structure. Some hosts publish renewals clearly; some publish nothing. The alternatives below are ranked on exactly that.
If you are still choosing between Hostinger’s own plans, read the Single vs Premium detailed comparison first — which plan fits your use case is a question you answer before the renewal maths.
Alternative 1: MilesWeb — the renewal story keeps moving, so pin it down
MilesWeb was traditionally known for a “same price at renewal” guarantee: on 14 October that claim was visible on their plan cards, and on 17 October it had vanished from the cards. On 20 October we checked the live page in a real browser, and here is what it actually shows:
- Hero: “Buy Web Hosting India & Save Up to 80%” at ₹69/mo, with a flash-sale countdown banner (“80% Off Hosting + Free Domain”).
- Plan cards (36-month term): Starter ₹69 (83% OFF), Advance ₹99 (80% OFF), Premium ₹129 (MOST POPULAR, 80% OFF), Unlimited Cloud ₹189 (75% OFF). All prices exclude 18% GST, stated on the page.
- There is no “same price at renewal” wording anywhere on the page. A text search for “renewal” on the live page returns exactly one hit: the “MilesWeb vs Others” comparison table’s “Renewal price” row — ₹289/mo (MilesWeb) vs ₹449/mo (Hostinger) vs ₹599/mo (GoDaddy), with the caveat “Prices are indicative and based on publicly available information at the time of comparison.”
One honest caveat about our own process: a text-only fetch of the same page this morning did show a “Same price at renewal – Guaranteed” hero line. The live browser render — the thing an actual visitor sees — does not. When two reads of one page disagree, the browser wins, and the safe conclusion is that any “same renewal” claim here is unreliable right now. Budget using the only concrete renewal number MilesWeb itself publishes: ₹289/mo (their own table, labeled indicative) — not the ₹69–₹129 intro rates. If support tells you otherwise in chat, get it in writing.
What is still genuinely in MilesWeb’s favour: 24/7 human support in English and Hindi, free domain, free SSL, daily backups, free expert migration, and an Indian company since 2012. Those did not change. Only the renewal story keeps moving — which is exactly why we re-check it instead of quoting last week’s page.
milesweb.in, 17 October 2026 — plan cards and the comparison table’s renewal row. Re-verified live in a browser on 20 October: same four cards (Starter ₹69, Advance ₹99, Premium ₹129, Unlimited Cloud ₹189); no “same price at renewal” wording on the page; only the comparison table’s ₹289/mo renewal row.

Alternative 2: Bluehost India — intro is known, renewal is a mystery
Bluehost India’s homepage currently runs a “Holiday savings. Site-wide sale!” hero with no plan prices in it. The intro prices come from their official price help page (verified 9 October 2026):
- Basic: ₹299/mo (36-month term) — 1 website, 50 GB storage, free domain for 1 year
- Choice Plus: ₹499/mo (36-month term) — unlimited websites, domain privacy + backups
Renewal prices are not published on the official page. That has been the status since 9 October and nothing has changed. Here is the practical consequence: you literally cannot calculate Bluehost’s 4–5 year cost. Any review that quotes Bluehost’s renewal as a confident number is working from old data or guessing. A host that will not print its renewal is a host whose long-term cost is a guess, not a number — factor that in.
Consider Bluehost only when brand familiarity or a specific feature matters to you, and never file it under “predictable” in your budget spreadsheet.

Alternative 3: HostGator India → BigRock — the merger, explained properly
This one confused even us for 24 hours, so here is the full picture. On 17 October, hostgator.in loaded a merger notice and ended up at bigrock.in. On 20 October, a text-only fetch loaded a normal-looking HostGator India homepage with no notice at all. A live browser check on 20 October resolved it: the page loads HostGator India content first, then a merger modal takes over — top banner: “IMPORTANT UPDATE — Effective July 15, 2025, HostGator India and BigRock will be joining forces…”, plus a modal headed “BigRock & HostGator India have joined forces” with a “Redirecting to BigRock in 25 seconds…” countdown, after which the page auto-redirects to bigrock.in (tagged ?utm_source=hgi&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=migration) with the banner “You’ve been redirected from HostGator India.”
So the honest version is: HostGator India is being absorbed into BigRock — you see the HostGator page briefly, then you are pushed to BigRock. The text fetch missed it because it does not wait out the 25-second countdown. Existing HostGator India customers should read their migration email for renewal terms. New buyers: BigRock’s shared hosting starts at ₹69/mo (65% OFF card), the page carries BigRock’s own GTmetrix-backed speed table (June 2026), and — same gap as Bluehost — renewal prices are not published on BigRock’s page.

Side-by-side: the renewal honesty scorecard
| Host | Renewal officially published? | Intro → renewal (verified) | GST |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hostinger | ✅ Yes — verbatim under every plan card (live-checked 20 Oct) | ₹69→₹289, ₹139→₹449, ₹249→₹649, ₹599→₹1,599 | 18% excluded |
| MilesWeb | ❌ No — no renewal wording on the page (live-checked 20 Oct); own comparison table shows ₹289/mo row, labeled indicative | ₹129/mo intro (Premium) vs ₹289/mo renewal row (2.24x) in their table | 18% excluded |
| Bluehost India | ❌ No | Intro verified (₹299/₹499); renewal unknown | 18% collected |
| BigRock (ex-HostGator) | ❌ No | Intro ₹69/mo; renewal unknown | Unclear on page |
One line: only Hostinger lets you verify its renewal on the official page today. MilesWeb’s only published renewal figure is a ₹289/mo row in its own comparison table (marked indicative), and Bluehost/BigRock publish nothing. Long-term budgets should only be built on numbers someone was willing to print.
Two tools can turn this into your personal maths: the hosting comparison tool compares plans with verified renewal numbers, and the website cost calculator adds intro + renewal + GST + domain renewal into a real 3–5 year total.
Research methodology
This article was written on 20 October 2026 as the English companion to the Hinglish original (17 October 2026). The key figures were re-verified live in a real browser on 20 October, not just from text fetches: hostinger.com/in (Black Friday hero verbatim — “UP TO 83% OFF”, “from ₹139/mo” — plus plan cards reading “Get 48 months for ₹3,312/₹6,672/₹9,552/₹28,752 … Renews at ₹289/₹449/₹649/₹1,599/mo”, GST-excluded footer), milesweb.in (four shared cards on the 36-month term — Starter ₹69, Advance ₹99, Premium ₹129, Unlimited Cloud ₹189; GST excluded; no “same price at renewal” wording anywhere; only the “MilesWeb vs Others” table’s ₹289/mo renewal row with its “indicative” caveat), hostgator.in (merger banner + 25-second countdown modal → auto-redirect to bigrock.in), bigrock.in (₹69/mo starting price, no renewal published). Bluehost’s intro prices (Basic ₹299, Choice Plus ₹499, 36-month term) were verified on their official price help page on 9 October; renewal prices remain unpublished. Three process conflicts are disclosed, not smoothed over: (1) a text-only fetch of MilesWeb showed a “same-renewal” hero line that the live browser render does not contain — the browser reading is treated as authoritative and the hero claim is discarded as unreliable; (2) the same text-only approach missed HostGator’s merger modal entirely because it does not wait out the 25-second countdown — this is now documented so future checks use the browser; (3) Hostinger’s plan labels churned (Unlimited ↔ Business) while renewal rows stayed fixed — labels are ignored, renewals are what is quoted. No product was personally tested. Screenshots are official-page captures (dates in captions); the browser tool could not export fresh PNGs today, so the Oct 17 captures are used with dated captions. lastVerified: 2026-10-20 — the checkout page is always the final authority.
